its all about mind control – you have to switch your thoughts off – think about things which are really boring and unstimulating and unexciting.

Try Melatonin, it can be found in the vitamin aisle, take one and about 15-20 minutes later you get kinda floaty, and sleepy. works for me.

use both sides of your brain and it will tire you out.
thats why counting sheep works if you visualize as you count. the counting and remembering the numbers while visualising uses both sides.
      good luck
oh yeah if all else fails ( and I know this is going to sound nasty and rediculous but it works ) smell your socks the ones you were wearing that day, before you get into bed. it will help you fall asleep.

pot beer laying off of the computer before you go to bed or something that makes your skin real clean and soft like dove soap, I use that stuff get my room pretty cool cause I like looking for the warmth then snuggle up some times I’ll play a game with myself and see if I can KILL all of the lights in my room by covering them like a power strip throw a dirty shirt on it, I used toturn music on low and have shuffle on. but I dont have a sleep timer anymore so later on in the night it will wake me. good luck chick

this may sound terrible, but go for a short walk, drink a small glass of water, have a good stretching session, then lay on your back on the floor and try to relax every part of your body from head to toe muscle by muscle. now think about something from the past that you enjoyed. no guarantees, but it works for me. good luck!

Don’t watch TV or computer 2 hrs before your target time. Have relaxing music in your room and scented candle. Make sure you took bath in the evening and wear lose cotton clothes.
One more suggestion take kali phos 6x. Its a natural brain tonic make tense nerves relax. It is one of the twelve salts which maintain and regulates body salts. Take 4 tables at least 2 hrs before and can repeat.
      good luck!

Depending on the season, a warm bath is a great way to relax in order to fall asleep. If you can’t take a bath, you can give yourself a foot massage with slightly warm massage oil, sesame oil, or castor oil from a health food store.

What was very helpful to me, especially when my mind was racing, was to lie in bed and listen to relaxation CDs, especially those that contain someone speaking with relaxing music in the background. Many of these CDs are available on eBay for very low prices.

A helpful technique is to relax your body one part at a time. So you could relax your feet, your lower legs, upper legs, moving up from your lower belly up to your chest, etc., etc.

Of course, guided relaxation methods can help, imagining yourself in the country, the beach, or whatever is most soothing to you.

If you have annoying thoughts or personal issues that run thru your mind when you are trying to sleep, you might have to deal with those issues first. You might want to talk to a counselor or therapist about that. I suggest avoiding prescription sleeping pills unless nothing else helps.

There are herbs that are helpful for sleep, eg, valerian root, kava kava, chamomile, hops, passion flower, skullcap. If you get the real herbs, you can make teas out of them. Otherwise get the herbs in capsule form. Probably, valerian root and kava kava are the best.

You can also try trytophan, 5-HTP and melatonin (1-2 mg). I would not take melatonin for over a month. It is a hormone produced by the pineal gland. If you take too much, your pineal gland might get “lazy” and produce less melatonin naturally. Life Extension and TwinLabs are probably the best brands, in that order.
